Alex Cambie has just headed off on an exciting adventure to Salt Lake City, USA. She won a scholarship to Ballet West when she competed at Youth America Grand Prix in April this year. Alex attended the Summer Intensive at Ballet West in August when it was decided her scholarship should be for 2 years full time on the Professsional Trainee Programme. This gives the trainees an opportunity to work closely and perform with the Company 'Ballet West'. 

This has been a very busy and fulfilling year for Alex. She successfully auditioned and competed in the Prix de Lausanne and Youth America Grand Prix, where she was won a scholarship to American Ballet Theatre's Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School in New York City. In July/ August Alex attended both the ABT and Ballet West Summer Intensives for 8 weeks. Last Sunday Alex sat her RAD Solo Seal exam in Wellington in front of a prestigious audience including the Artistic Director of the Royal Academy of Dance in London, Lynn Wallis, RAD examiners and others.

We are very proud of Alex's achievements and wish her lots of luck in the future. She has been at MEBA since she was 3 years old and we will miss her a lot.
